Freddie Closing Fee

I finally (long story) have a signed contract with Freddie Mac on a REO foreclosure in Florida. The contract states that "seller will designate closing agent and pay for owners policy and charges". I received the closing package today from Freddie's title company and it states that the title company will be charging me a "settlement closing fee" of $250.
Can they do this? I complained to my agent but have not heard back yet.

First, nothing is undefined. At any point, you could have (can) ask the attorney for their fee schedule and they will tell you how much it will cost to close with them. If you don't like their fees, you go someplace else. When you agreed to use their attorney, you agreed to pay all the fees they typically charge.

As for what else the title company does, in my state, they are the same firm that does the closing. So, they gather the docs, prepare the HUD, perform the closing, disburse the funds, file the deed, etc. it's typical to charge $250-600 for all of that work (where I live).

Whose realtor did you ask for a list of closing costs? If it was your realtor, s/he should have gotten the fee schedule for you. If it was the seller's realtor, well, that person doesn't work for you and you should have your own representation.
