Partnering With an Undocumented

I work as a bartender in New York City. 3 years ago I met an undocumented immigrant with whom we are now workmates and very good friends (We are both in our early 20s). He has always been a person focused on finances and personal development since I met him and he surprised me with his financial knowledge so much that he has helped me with my finances and to develop better habits in my life. (He has lent me books that have sown in my very good habits and new perspectives of the world).

This last time he has been studying REI on his own and thanks to him I ended up here at BP.

I started obsessing with reading about REI, listening to the podcast, among other things.

Two days ago he called me and told me if we could get together to talk. When he arrived, he came with some folders and his computer where he showed me his savings, economic projections of his situation. And he said: Look Vicente, I have achieved this in the years that I have been here I have this amount of savings and I intend to invest in RE, I know that we are in a market that is too expensive for what I have but we could look for some other that is more accessible. Do not tell me anything. Think about it for a week and tell me what you think.

He left me with my mouth open... This guy has savings to live 7 months and cover all his needs without having to work, besides that He saved 30k that intends to invest in real estate.

I honestly want to enter the world of RE and I think he is a very capable person. I want to be his partner but I do not know what complications could bring the fact that he is undocumented.

Is there any way we can both benefit from this situation without problems? Thank you!
