Real estate agent also managing renovation on new property?
Is it common to ask your real estate agent to be the renovation manager/architect for a newly acquired fixer upper rental property you got through him/her? If it is, then what is the typical cost of this service? And is doing it this way better than just asking for contractor recommendations?

@Debbie C. very unusual! Most agents don't have the skills. And the time. It is not part of the training, there are some who have a background in construction who might be an exception. I have been an investor/rehabber much longer than an agent and while I have GC'd properties for high end clients before, but considering the time I have available each day I prefer to recommend a capable contractor. And architectual work is a completley different game; I always work with a professional architect and her input is often priceless. So, generally I would not do that, but bour agent will probably have good recommendations for you!
