59 Doors as a College Student (With Little to No Money!)

Hello BP Community,

I write this forum to inspire anyone and everyone who has doubts in becoming successful in this exciting business! I got started in real estate a year and a half ago as an engineering student, and while in college, I had everything going against me. I had no money, no experience, and no direction to really get started. With that being said, I worked my butt off and have been able to acquire 59 units, all with 30% equity, since I got started. I have now graduated college a little less than a month ago and can now pursue my dreams instead of having to go through the 9 to 5 life. Here are the few lessons that I have learned through this time.. I hope it gives some value!

1. Relationships are the MOST important part of this business - I make this number one for a reason. The majority of great deals I've found, the majority of the capital I've raised, and the reason I have been able to be so efficient with my work is because I have spent much of my time forming life long relationships.

2. Knowledge is power! - After reading 3 books a week and listening to 2 podcasts per day for a year and a half, I have been able to make up for the learning gap pretty quickly. Live your life as a student and the rewards will be exponential.

3. Spend time with positive people - Coming from college, a lot of the people I was hanging out with were not the people that I needed to be around to get to the next level. As soon as I started hanging around people more successful and more positive than me, my circumstances changed immediately. Show me your friends, I'll show you your future!

4. Build a reputation and stay true to your word - It seems like a lot of people these days (not counting myself out of this) will tell people that they will do one thing and then not stay true to their word. One of the best ways for me to be able to raise money, build relationships, and build trust is to have a high level of integrity and to follow through with the promises that I make to people. Say what you do and do what you say; word will spread and people will be much more willing to work with you.

5. Don't listen to everyone - This one has been huge for me. There is so much negativity out there and so many different people to listen to. Sometimes, you just have to believe in yourself and go with your gut. There have been so many people who have doubted me throughout this journey, and instead of allowing them to get in my head, I used it as motivation and leverage to do better. No one is going to care about your business as much as you do... So get educated, work hard, and be careful who you listen to. You have to believe in yourself to become a success.

I hope this gave some value. This is just the beginning for me and I hope that it is for you as well. Now go and follow your dreams!

On behalf of the BP community, we're going to need a lot more detail to understand how someone at 21/22 years old is raising money (guessing family) and how you acquired 59 doors without any money of their own. I appreciate the effort to inspire, but this isn't Facebook/Instagram. You need to provide detail here, people want to learn, not just hand out likes.
