Has anyone ever tried email marketing for leads? If so, how effective is it compared to your direct mail campaigns? Where do you get your lists? Is there a higher ROI?

You've got to build your own list for it to be effective. Buying lists is garbage. There are no shortcuts in biz.

Using targeted digital ad campaigns, on Facebook or Instagram for example, is a great way to build your email list. Then you don't worry about being white noise only reaching the same people who are on lists that get bought & sold.  Happy to answer any questions you may have about starting digital marketing!

As others have said, you need to build your own list and if done right this can be very lucrative. I would do some research on facebook ads, as well as re targeting links. Happy investing

Does anyone know of a blog post on how to build your email list? If not, can someone elaborate here?

I see some people talking about facebook ads that send people to a website. I guess the biggest question is how should my website look?

D.J- You don't need to have a website to run Facebook ads- just a business page on FB. The goal of running the ad is to get prospects in your email list, not drive them to your website.

Make a good engaging ad, target your audience and then collect emails directly from people who click on your ad.  Then you put them into whatever CRM/email platform you use and go from there with whatever process you already use for leads.

First off- never said I was an expert... but hearing I have the worst advice on the forums... oo well, your opinion... internet is a free space, so attack me if you wish.

I was just speaking to the fact that it is not necessary to run ads on Facebook, not making any blanket statements about business websites on the whole.  You can pay for another web service like ClickFunnels to build a customized landing page if you want in conjunction with your ads, but you can also stay within Facebook and create a landing page for your ad.

The OP was asking about email lists, and lead generation campaigns on Facebook are a great method to build a list.  How you use the emails to follow up after the ad generates the lead is all up to you.

@D.J. Parten  The best way to build your email list is through a website and social media marketing that will leverage your website content and get it out there. Don't waste your time on mailings such as postcards and letters. They're expensive and don't work. To answer your question about a blog post here one: Email Marketing List Building Although this site mainly focuses on affiliate marketing and online business building, there is a section on there for email marketing in the top menu. There are more articles on this in the drop-down menu. Hope you find this helpful.

@D.J. Parten Results are based on the quality of your list.

I see a lot of back and forth on specific tactics in this discussion. (Everyone's probably right, btw.) The main principle to focus on is that a list people volunteer to be on will be stronger than one they somehow ended up on.
