empty lot costing me money

Hello,
Really looking for some options on what i can do with a lot i purchased for cash to build my family home on.Since the purchase, the city wont allow us to build the style of house on the lot. So we are doing something else .However i cant seem to sell it in todays market and i really want to keep money or something moving I/E trade for other property or ? any ideas?

Why not joint venture with someone - maybe your skin in the game is the lot; they build something marketable and you agree on a return of your investment (plus taxes) and a fair split of any profits upon sale.
If it's nice enough area for you to want to build - then chances are there is a market.
