American living in Zürich looking to buy Real Estate in Baltimore

I'm an American living in Zurich Switzerland, and am looking to invest in Real Estate in Baltimore Maryland or P.G. County. This is going to be my very first Real Estate purchase. How should I get started, and is it better to start with a Single Family home or Multi Family? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It all depends on your goals, capital available to you, and the amount of time you have to dedicate to this.  Are you looking for Passive Income from a rental or short term equity from a fixer upper?
