Cancelled Contract-Should Owner get a copy of Inspection Report?
Hello BP!
Is it customary to provide the seller with a copy of the Inspection report?
BACKGROUND: I just cancelled a contract to purchase a single family Turnkey property in Florida. It was advertised as a turnkey but there was a broken window, electrical issues and the roof had surpassed its life expectancy (major issue to me). A future roof repair could blow away my ROI long term.
I backed-out because I did not calculate my numbers to potentially purchase a roof for a property that's supposed to be a turnkey. And in my opinion the property should have been marketed as a fixer upper because it is selling at retail and needs major repair, as the inspector recommended the roof gets replaced.
Thanks,
Chris

Did you ask the seller to replace the roof, or for a reduced price to offset a replaced roof? I would have no issues sharing a report if I backed out due to issues found in it.
