Are bandit signs illegal if they're on your own property?

Here's a question that maybe someone here as come across before. I'm sure I'll have to check with my local village. But are bandit signs in general illegal? Or are they illegal because you're putting them on property that isn't yours?  What if I put a bandit sign in my own yard? Illegal?

I know people are allowed to put political signs in their own yard. And I see roofing signs or contractor signs in yards that they're working at.

I don't know if a village would be ok seeing a bunch of commercial advertising signs in yards though so I'm guessing that won't fly either. I'm just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this or not.

I have a bunch of rentals - some of which are in great spots for traffic. And am starting a direct marketing business with a local investor friend to help us both grow faster in terms of deals and maybe wholesale a few. Was wondering what would happen if I stuck a sign in some of my renters' yards.

I'm positive I can deal with the renters to allow me to do it. I'm just not sure what the village would or could say. Again, I would put them in the yard and not in the easement after the sidewalk.....

Thoughts?????

@Mike H.

They can be.

That's why I've found it's always best to make the Bandit sign a "For Sale" or "For Rent" sign with a bandit component to it...that's how you beat the system ;)
