Prior to moving in

I expect to close on this house in the next several days--no official date yet.
I won't move out of my present home into it for a while. In the meantime, some work will be done, including enclosing a single car carport, and adding security bars.
What steps can I take other than being there most of the time, which I simply cannot be, to help it appear to be more lived in?
This house has been vacant for about a year. It is on a corner lot, and this new activity may spur interest in it.
I have a keysafe I can use, and will ask the listing agent to leave his for sale sign up as long as he can.
I can put a couple of lights on timers.

Any other simple kinds of things I can do? Of course, I'll get it insured immediately.

Thanks.
