Information on Hosting An Open House for Realtor
Does anyone know if a real estate license is required to host an open house for a Realtor? Are there any rules for accepting compensation? I am considering starting a business to assist realtors with their open houses....many realtors hate to do this. I have lots of sales and marketing experience.
For any of you that are realtors....
What would you pay for a service like this?
Would you pay additional for a "close" that resulted from this service? (Is that allowed?)
Would you pay extra for leads that turned in to clients? (Is this allowed)
What makes a GREAT open house in your opinion?

Grace Porritt ,it is illegal to host an open house for a Realtor all by yourself without a license.Under the law you can do everything for the Realtor except talk to the visitors about the property or attempt to persuade anyone to buy that property or any other property. You can serve food and drinks, set up and take down the signs around the neighborhood,Greet guests and have them sign the registry, keep their children occupied while the Realtors work with the adults, and basically guard the front door while the Realtor walks through the property with the guests. You can never answer any questions whatsoever about the property. You basically have to say " the Realtor will be with you shortly" and "Thanks for visiting today". At most you can expect about 15 bucks an hour for unlicensed assistant duties. You're never going to get a real piece of the commission without a license or do something more professional like photography or staging the property.Colorado may have different laws so I can't speak for them.
