Contacting homeowner via Facebook to make offer

I recently found this vacant property in my hometown back in Mississippi. I would like to purchase the property. I looked on the Hinds County website and found the name of the owner. Looks like it was deeded via an Estate. I did a google search on the owners name and came across his Facebook profile.

My question is has anyone contacted a home owner via Facebook before? Or would you recommend contacting this owner via Facebook to ask if interested in selling their property?

@Elex Price I've tried that before. Unless you're "friends" with them on FB, the message won't go through. You might try googling names of some of their good friends or family members on FB and see if you could find an e-mail, for instance their work e-mail. E-mail the friend or family member and explain the situation, and ask them to forward your message with your contact info. I was able to reach the person I wanted to talk to this way, but didn't end up getting the house.
