Hurricanes in Cape Coral - Fort Myers

Hi Everyone,

I am looking into investing in the Cape Coral - Fort Myers area.  I am from the Silicon Valley and have never visited FL.  How real is the the hurricane risk there?  Is it a yearly concern?  Does insurance cover damage caused by hurricanes?  In CA, you would have to buy separate insurance for earthquakes and it is prohibitively expensive.  Not sure if it's similar in FL for hurricanes.
