Whats the best way 2 partner w/ a friend in real estate investing

My friend an I have some money we want to invest in real estate. What is the best way to legally partner on the deals? we are both married with children and are bring equal investing funds to the table. Should we LLC, LLP or just use our personal names for the deals?
