Do Option Contracts Need To Be Notarized?
We have an option contract that has a provision to get it notarized & I am wondering if that is really the case. The Texas TREC does not require a notary, so why would an option contract need to be notarized?
Any and all help is appreciated & I am going to run this by my attorney also...

There is no statutory requirement that a contract be notarized. The only purpose for doing so would be so it could be recorded in the public records, but most investors will only file a memorandum of the option contract so that all the terms of the contract are not made public.
