New vs. Experienced real estate agent

My husband and I are looking at  buying our first investment property.  I'm suggesting we use our neighbor and friend who is a new realtor as of this year.  I think we could help each other as newbies in the business.  He thinks this is a bad idea and we should look for an experienced realtor who already has established contacts.  Is one of us more right than the other?  Thanks in advance!

@Julianne Croegaert I would never use a friend as a Realtor, and I would never represent friends. If things go bad, you will loose a friend.
