Sheriffs Sale and Deed Wording....

What does this mean?

"JUDGMENT against REDACTED, in favor of WELLS FARGO BANK, N.A"

There are several of these listed on the deed information before this 'auction' or 'sheriffs' sale and I am curious.

I have always been under the impression, that while I have always purchased thru a broker that a home CANNOT be sold to me if there is some lien or other judgement against it.

NOTE ALSO:  I have never done a Sheriff's sale.  But am I correct?  I have closed several homes and while each and every one of them includes very much a lot of legal mumbo jumbo, I have always believed that you CANNOT sell me a home that has a lien or judegment, otherwise it would not be a clean and/or clear deed.

All help is always appreciated,
