Protecting Investors giving down payment

I'm buying some duplexes that the owner will owner finance. For the down payment I'm using OPM. How do I offer my investors protection? If I add them as a lien holder won't that upset the person I'm doing the owner finance with? How do y'all do this type of transaction?
