buying a home from a private builder

I am looking to purchase a new construction home from a private builder- so not a big name company.  He is offering a 1 year full warranty on the home.  What are some things I need to look out for? Of course a home inspection will be done, but anything else I need?

New home though the big builders typically offer 10 year warranties on the structure, etc. Is 1 year enough?
