Baby Boomers seeking Retirement Communities have a problem

Anyone using BP ever noticed the SPCA solicitations on T.V. requesting contributions to help provide Food and Shelter for Animals?  Don't get me wrong, I like Dogs and Cats and think to many of them are abused and neglected.  However, being a property manager of low income housing for the elderly and disable I meet low income elderly renters and people with all kinds of disabilities needing affordable food and shelter to include medical assistance.

Property management is difficult in normal circumstances.  Management of housing for low fixed income elderly renters and people with disabilities that are economically disadvantaged increases the challenge.  The importance of good housing management is critical when funded by your Tax Dollars.  But, government programs are running out of money.  Why do you think the SPCA gets more support from Pet lovers than real estate investors give human beings that really support the advantaged life style of the Investor, an often Rich Slum Lord?

@Jay Hinrichs @Thomas S. all hit the nail on the head.

Look at asian culltures. I have been fortunate to visit many Asian countries and befriend a great many filipino, japanese, korean, thai, and vietnamese during my stay in Hawaii. Family always comes first in those countries. Kids in adulthood have a RESPONSIBILITY that is engrained in them from a very young age, to support the elders in the family, to put their needs in front.

Unfortunately in the US, children are entitled, rude, and unrealistic from an early age. They do not respect their elders. Therefore, the seniors have to rely on assistance from the government.

Animals do not have the ability to plan their financial future, (sane) adults do, but the entitlement mentality has already passed onto Gen Y (my generation), which is truly a sad state of affairs.

Although I know nothing about politics and don't really follow it, i think its interesting to scroll through facebook and see my high school or college friends who aren't doing well financially, and might I add always blame others for their troubles, are overwhelmingly promoting and peddling Bernie Sanders. Unless you have a life threatening illness or are truly disabled, get off your butt, get educated, and mold your present and future!
