RE etiquette investor-2-agent
I was not aware of something that I did and thought it would be ok until my agent said no and explained why. Luckily we have a great understanding and she knows I was not trying to skirt around her.
I'm questing for a book now that will help me not make any of these mistakes, short of studying and becoming an agent myself. :-) @Wayne Brooks
I looked at a property with my agent and I knew the listing agent from previous dealings. After we looked at it she communicated some information back to them to which I was then informed of their counter-that didn't work for me. I then contacted the list agent and thought "well I can use some things that I learned in negotiation and just talk to the other agent". I found that if an agent shows a property, the RE ethics are that relationship needs to remain intact and I should have gotten my agent to contact the list agent rather than me doing it. Ooops ok won't do that again.
This particular tactic would be probably be better served if I were dealing with a FSBO that used a list agent just to list their property. Then perhaps I would contact the list agent or just deal with the FSBO directly.
Back to my quest, I've searched for books on the RE etiquette/ethics and am coming up short. Perhaps it's my search criteria.
Anyone know of a book that as an investor that is not an RE agent I can get some education on the what-nots-and-dos?
Thanks, happy investing, and have a great weekend!
