Many resources, where to begin?

New to BP. Loving the podcasts, which provide lots of useful information and resources. The feedback people post on the forum is SUPER informative! However, I feel very overwhelmed with all that is out there. Here's my situation: I currently work and live abroad (& plan to do so for approx. 10 years); I have a home in LA that is tenant occupied; and I am interested in buying and holding on to a duplex in the LA area. And, at this moment, in terms of property, this is all I am interested in. My question: What is/are the best resource(s)? Where do I begin? It seems that for LA there is tons of information for tenants but not a lot for landlords. Working/living abroad, I want to make sure that I handle things correctly because I can't just jump on a plane and head back to the US.
