Time Frame To Call Contractors?

Good morning everyone! For all of you who are rehabbing homes, how far in advance do you schedule your contractors before rehabbing begins? We have a property we are going to close on in Severna Park, MD on September 8, 2015. I started calling yesterday. Am I way ahead of schedule or way too late? What have you found to be super effective?
