County Home Auctions

Hi all:

I was wondering if someone could share their experience buying via a county home auction.  Live on the courthouse steps.  What are some dos and don'ts?  How much are you really able to inspect a property before it goes up?  Is this a feasible way to get a deal? Are these events typically oversaturated with buyers looking for a cheap deal?

Thanks
