How do find out how much a property was worth in 2001? Using CMA? Comps?

I have a client who had inherited the property back in July 2001....

He does not know how much the property was worth when he inherited it... and will be doing his taxes this week.

How would I search for comparative sales that had sold around July 2001?

I do not have my realtors license, so I do not have access to CMA tools. Can someone assist me?

Thank you once again. I'm very grateful to be part of this great community of investors and Realtors. Looking forward to the success we achieve through our business alliances.
