Living in an apartment while investing

I am moving to Orlando, Fl from upstate New York in two weeks and would like to get into the market and try to find my first investment property when I get down there. I will be living in an apartment myself and I just wanted to get your opinions on whether it is still a good idea to go buy an investment property while still living in an apartment? Why or why not? Thanks!

If you're living below your means in an apartment and it allows you to build seed money for investing, then there's nothing wrong with it.  Of course, if you find a great "sub-to" deal that will allow you to do the same while getting some tax advantages and build equity, that would be even better.
