using an agent VS not using an agent to find and buy propeties

greeting and bigger pockets to all.

im starting my quest to get a few rental properties and wondering MUST  i use an agent to find & buy the properties.

when it comes to money ive found i generally do better for myself than others  do so i assume it will be the same here and i am considering doing it  myself.

so my questions ...

does a buyer need to have an agent on their side to buy a property?

if i dont use an agent what are the differences ie do i save any money if not using?
