Why do YOU purchase income properties?

Really curious why investors purchase income properties, is it so you can live off the cash flow for retirement, fund your children's college tuition, quit your day job or maybe some other reason?  Just curious to know where the real estate investors minds are at these days :)

Pretty much everything you've mentioned. But my biggest reason is to have as much control over my life as possible. My family and I won't have to depend on a boss who can flip my living situation upside-down just because they are having a bad day. I will be able to have much more control over how much money I make and how it's made. I don't want to have to be on anyone elses time but mine. At that point the only thing I will have to worry about getting in my way are my health and the government.
