Found a few vacant properties this weekend but not much deed info?

I went driving for dollars this weekend and spotted numerous properties; two of which is vacant and boarded up. I went digging around the county assessors website and could not find much history on either properties except for names of the owner. Does this mean there is no mortgage? I assume they don't live there because it's boarded up but I could not find any forwarding address either. My next step is to go to the assessor's office but I can't make it there until Monday. Is there anyway to find out more in the meantime?
