Analyzing A New Market

Hello everyone. I am very new to REI and am wondering what tools some people use to analyze markets. What is the best way to find out about employment, neighborhood classes, how many people are moving there, etc. I am in a high price market and am looking out of state towards Colombus Ohio but would like to look at other markets as well. I figure selecting a market is important so I want to be sure my decision is a well informed one!
