The best way I have found to find quality operators is to join a Community.  BP is great, but it is not really specialized in syndications so you might want to narrow your focus a bit and find a Community that concentrates on passive investing.

When I first made the transition from active to passive investing, I found it very difficult to find quality operators and to be confident that they were going to be a good steward of my capital.  I found some good ones and some not so good ones by listening to podcasts, reading forums and google searches.  Things really changed when I started joining Communities and learning from then.  Currently, I won't invest in a new sponsor unless they are introduced to someone who I know, like and trust from my Community who has invested with the sponsor already.  Trust transfers and if someone in my Community has had a positive experience and shares that with me it gives me confidence that at the very least that the operator is legit.  I still do all of my normal due diligence, but I am really starting many steps ahead because I already have some trust in the sponsor.
