New default thread update notifications

So, recently the default settings have been changed so that any time I contribute to a forum thread it automatically signs me up to "follow" it.  Since I am pretty active on the forums trying to help people, my email is now inundated with these alerts.  The only feature in "settings" is to either completely turn all the notifications off or on, which is frustrating because there actually are threads I am vested in and would like to receive notifications on.  I'd really just like to toggle off the "auto follow" default setting that was implemented.

Please stop the madness!

Thanks for listening.
