Security systems for rental property

I recently bought my first multifamily. I am doing the house hacking strategy. Live in lower unit, and rent out the upper unit.
I have a tenant upstairs. I am thinking of putting a security monitoring system (like ring central so I can view on my phone) to monitor my property and would like to install security cameras in a few places on the property. Is it legal for me to do it? do I  need to inform my tenant?

I basically would like to monitor my property while I am travelling, and want to make sure that the tenant is respectful of the property even while I am away.

Could you please also suggest some good systems that would give me value for money.
