BiggerPockets members be on your guard against those who would try to rip you off and scam you out of money or otherwise!!

Now that BP is almost 1 Million strong, there are "Con~Artists" who would prey on the unaware to try to steal money or otherwise. I just got an email that was someone introducing himself as the owner of a RE property investment firm. The body of the email went on to say he wants to invest 1.5 Million in real estate properties in the USA. It went on to say he would send the money and expect a 5% return over 5 years. It's the old proverbial "Nigerian Prince" with multi~millions to invest overseas, and "YOU" have been chosen. I know it sounds silly, and I, or most of us, would never send one dollar, but there might be some that could benefit from this information. On the flip side, I do get important and credible emails from, Brokers, Agents, Lenders, etc...

I know most of us, within reading the first sentence, would know it is a "Scam", but I just wanted to post this for everybody to be super~aware of the times we live in. It's bad enough that some investors here put out tens of thousands of dollars for an investment property, only to find out that what was sold to them was not the precise property, area, or investment the person had thought and agreed to have bought. Be aware!

O.K., enough of my yammering, please just be careful.

Thanks for reading.  :)

the biggest one though is just put a little blurb out your looking to borrow money.. that is when you will get spammed on facebook linkdin BP everywhere with FAKE LENDERS promise you the moon and deliver moon rocks..

And not all people understand this is fake..

one BP poster got on here and was all excited.. he said he had just gotten a commitment for 20milliin everyone start sending him properties.. the more you got into the thread the more you realized he just did not understand that is was not real.. and I think we protected him from sending any money.

Or what about the people that some random comes and says hey we'll give you money for about half the rate a bank will... just give us some money upfront to cover the fees lol.
