Good idea or bad idea!
so, let's say that I came into some money due to a lawsuit, and my lawyer spoke to me about investing some of it into a structured settlement for example.
1,000,000 initial investment for 20yrs at 2.79% IRR
At the end I would get back my initial investment of one million plus a profit of $552,847 tax free, for a total of
$1, 552,847. That $552,847 would be paid out to me at $2,303.53 a month for 20yrs....
Or, should I invest it into realestate?

@Mickey Busanet, a 2.79%/y annuity is a terrible return! Also, in 20 years, how much do you think your $1M will buy you then? (Answer: Not as much as you're probably being told).
It's a really really bad idea! (And your Lawyer must know that! How much is their take?)
I'll leave it to others to respond here with suggestions for a better path.
I also suggest you don't enter into correspondence outside this thread about how to "invest" your money. If anyone wants you to, please tell them to do so on this thread (if they dare)!
But, well done for asking. That's how you learn. All the best...
