I was sending someone a birthday greeting. I sent the message and moved on. Then I could not remember if I had used the subject line so I went to check what I sent.

When I looked in the sent folder I did not see the message. I thought that was slightly odd.

As it was not that long I figured maybe it was still in the outbox. Sure enough the message was there.

I then noticed that there are 4 messages there. 1 from Sunday, 1 from Monday and 2 from today.

What causes a message to remain in the outbox? I do believe I just requested that the message be sent when I finished composing it originally.

On a potentially related note I noticed that I had no new messages according to the alert section at the top of the page when you login. Later when I was in the PM area there was a message. That message was from yesterday so it should have shown as new at some point. Does new mean unread or new just mean that at some point the message is new? If the later it could have come in when I was in the PM area and I did not notice. Hence when I left it is no longer new but still never seen by me.

Thanks in advance,
John Corey
