Building a home (Jacksonville, FL)

Hello everyone! I'm researching the possibility of purchasing a lot and hiring a builder to construct a single-family home. I've come across many builders and developers that construct in community settings but not on private lots. Any advice on how to accomplish this?

@Cintia Chicon, The best bet to accomplish your goal is to hire a well qualified Home Designer first. Don't make the mistake of contacting a Builder prior to this step. Allow the Home Designer to do a rendering of your desired home. Only when you have completed this process should you hunt for a builder. The best place to find a General Building Contractor is at your local City Building/permitting office. Most Cities offer a free registration of the local builders as a courtesy to the public. Although they won't refer you to any particular builder they will almost always have a general list. Also Home Designers have contractors they work with. I have been remodeling and building homes for over 25 yrs and when you find a Home Designer and a Contractor that has a good working relationship, it will save you money and time in the long run. Too bad I don't have the time or I would build it for you :)
