How to verify contracting charges?

Hi, 

I recently bought a property and want to remodel the Kitchen and Bathroom. However, the contract returned to me with the following costs:

Kitchen ($13,600)

1. Cabinets -- Removing, Cleaning and Painting doors(2 coats of paint from Kelly Moore) -- $4500

2. Granite -- Demolish all countertops, sinks, and faucets, dispose of all the garbage. Install 5⁄8 plywood and new granite
or quartz. -- $7300

3. Backsplash tile or glass -- Install backsplash on kitchen walls and grout. -- $1800

Bathroom remodeling ($17,500)
Demolish bathroom; tub, toilet, vanity and both floor and wall tile. Remove the pocket door and install a
regular door.
Plumbing
Reinstall new shower valve, and new tub.
Prepare the bathroom for tile, using a hardiebacker. Install new tile on both walls and floor, toilet, vanity
etc..

From your experience, do the above numbers make sense or I am being taken for a ride?

I have another contract who is charging me half of the above quotes so I am thinking why is it that big a difference.
