Becoming a Real Estate Agent in Tampa FL

Hi everyone,

I am planning to move to Tampa and am very strongly considering obtaining a real estate license and becoming a full time agent there or in surrounding areas such as Clearwater, St.Petersburg, or Sarasota.

My general questions right now:

1. Do any firms offer a substantial base pay plus commission on top? (I understand most agent income comes from commission but would definitely love the security of a base salary even if it is minor.)

2. Should I get my license first and then apply to jobs or try to get a job with a firm that pays for my license?

3. Are there any notable differences between becoming a residential or a commercial agent? (I plan to invest in multi family and commercial property later in life so I am leaning towards being a commercial agent)

4. What are the top real estate firms that you would reccomend looking to work for?

Any other insight, guidance, or helpful tips would be greatly appreciated as well!
