Real Estate Agent Part Time

Hello all

I have been looking to buy a home over the last couple of months and learned more about the real estate agent business. I’m interesting in exploring this career as a part time job. I know this is a time intensive job so I was wondering if anyone here is able to work as a real estate agent part time while having a full time day job. If so I’d like to hear how you can make it work. Thanks!

Hi @Mike Celli

Being a part time agent is doable, but make sure you choose the right company. For instance ours would be a bad fit because we have monthly fees and high splits. Agents get to spend more of the money on how they feel a house should be marketed etc. However if I was starting part time while still doing a full time job (I started part time agent and then moved to full time agent, part time W-2 right away. Then just full time agent.). I would choose one of the companies that have low fees and if you sell 4 or 5 a year you are considered doing great. The hardest part is going to be able to network with the other agents who will be helping you. Most are around during the day but at nights and weekends they are showing clients and working on deals, because that's when most people are available.

Best of luck in your business!!
