How to choose a brokerage for a new real estate agent?
I am in the process of taking my classes to become a licensed real estate agent. I was wondering if there were any tips on choosing the right brokerage for a new agent. I am going 100% into becoming an agent and luckily have the support from my wonderful wife. I wake up and check the forums here, I listen to all the podcasts and talk to anyone around me that enjoys REI. Right now I'm selling my first live in flip and plan to purchase another flips once this one sells but I know my job has to involve real estate. I have friends that tried part time and ended up going back to their old jobs because they did not put in any effort to succeed. That will not be the case for me and hopefully with some tips from the experts here, you all can help me become the best agent I can possibly be. So any suggestions or tips on finding potential leads are welcome.
Thank you in advanced,
Lee

Hey Lee,
I would have to agree about the "part time" agent thing. I dont think there's such thing as part time because you are working all day and all night, you have no idea when you will be getting phone calls and writing up offers. If you arent available they will just find another realtor.
Some things I would ask your new broker would be:
1. Ask about training
2. If youd have a mentor
Its very important you are trained correctly or have someone you can somewhat shadow for your first few deals.
3. Since you are doing you own live in flips find out how much it would be to list your own home.
4. Commission splits
5. The size of the office, how many other agents are there
6. Administrative support- or do you do all the paperwork from start to finish
7. Referrals and leads
8. Ask if they have latest technology
I am sure you can ask much more than just these!
You can even ask to sit through their meetings or training sessions before you pick a brokerage. So you can get a feel of the office and other agents there.
Good luck in your search.
