You are in a field where the investment is tangible.  The investment makes sense. People need food, water, air, power, and shelter.  I like owning necessities.  Like Brian mentioned you have control.  I know that I can buy the house at a certain price and rent it for a price.  I can adjust this to make it work.  If I am properly leveraged I am bulletproof to economic downturns.  If I invest in stocks I have zero control.  I have no idea if a company is cooking their books like Enron.

As for being in real estate sales.  I get to make my own hours, I get to be my own boss, I get to control my income.  No one to blame but myself.  Love that.  Also buying a house is a very important event in peoples lives and I am so grateful I am able to be a part of that and earn the trust of my clients.  I have made some great friends helping people buy their own home and invest.
