Customary for listing agent to attend showing?

Is it typical for listing agents to show a property if clients have a buyer's agent they'll be arriving with?  It seems as though it's not in some areas, but I think the listing agent has an inherent knowledge of the property the buyer's agent wouldn't.

It depends on the situation. In general, buyer agents show homes. Listing agents just market them.
There are some situations with sellers that the listing agent is requested to be there for all showings. Usually related to pets or if there is an unusual amenity that the sellers want to highlight.
