Does This Make ANY Sense? Making money from previous clients?

Realtors, I need your help...

First of all, This is not an offer... I only want feedback.

Sometimes you sell houses that are fixer-uppers. If you sold that house and then referred them to renovation company, and they agree to use that renovation company... would you take 10-20% of the profit? $1000, $2000, other?

 - Is this idea even valid?

 - Would you even take something like this seriously?

 - What would you instead?

I'm marketing/consulting for a reno company.

Apologies if I posted this in the wrong thread.

All feedback welcome.

@Brandon Hofer  No, I would not take a referral fee from any contractor I recommend to my clients.  That would be considered a kickback.  I would also not charge my client a fee for just making a recommendation.  Now, I have been hired to help manage small renovation projects, and I have been paid for that.
