Etiquette for a "One Day Stand" with a realtor
Hello,
I'm interested in purchasing a 700k+ home in the Oregon Willamette Valley in the 2021 time frame. But since I'm so far out I'm not really interested in committing to a realtor yet. However, I will be in the area over Christmas and am interested in walking through at 2-4 properties to get an idea of exactly what I want.
My question is this. What is the etiquette for a situation like this? Should I go directly to the listing agent to walk through his/her listing? Or do I just need to commit to a realtor this early in the game? I want to be transparent an honest, but also not get tied down this early.
Thanks for the help,
Best, John

what I would do is go to open houses and new construction.. what is priced at 700k is not going to be 700k 3 to 4 years from now.. could go either way better deals or prices moved up 100 to 150k.
Most builders will have their homes that are near or complete open on Sunday afternoons. I know we have ours open every sunday.. that way you can look at your leisure.. and you don't have to run any agent around.. if your up front with an agent they may still take the time to work with you.. I know I would personally not do that as a lot can happen in 3 to 4 years.. and also you don't want to be setting up appointments to look at houses you can't buy anyway.. not fair to the homeowners they have to leave .. do something with their animals etc etc.. think about others when you embark on this journey.
