Why obtain your real estate license

Investors with a real estate license: did you get your license for MLS access? Wondering what else would motivate an investor to obtain their real estate license if they're already investing. And if that's something I need to explore as a new investor. Thanks!

Replied

Some reasons..

  • Save money. 3% Buyer's Agent (Selling agent) commission applied directly to closing costs. 3% Listing commission straight in my pocket.
  • Be self sufficient. Don't have to be at someone else' mercy for providing information. Can do research at 2 AM if I'd like.
  • Additional source of income. Although my focus is my own investing, lot of my friends and family use me to list or buy. Just one measly deal a year is enough to break even and then some more.
  • It was a fun getting educated on real estate. What price tag you can put on that? Makes you come across as well informed when you are talking real estate.
  • Last but not the least.. Makes you a better investor even if you are using a realtor for some out of state investing. When you know the right way of doing things, you can quickly tell if the realtor you are working with is good or bad. If bad, its not hard to replace.
