Looking for investor friendly managing broker

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of getting my real estate brokers license.  My biggest issue that I'm faced with is what brokerage is willing to take on a investor and not a true agent? Also is there a way to sign with a brokerage that is not listed in my home state (Illinois). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know this for certain, but I'm thinking that you'll need license in whatever state you intend to do business in. So if you live in Illinois, but want access to the MLS or whatever else in Wisconsin, for example, you'll need to be licensed and hang a license at a brokerage in that state. Again, I don't know this for certain but that's my understanding of these inter-state set ups with real estate licenses.

As for getting your license and hanging your license somewhere, are you doing this solely as an investor?  Or are you looking to be a realtor agent that also helps others buy/sell homes?  I ask because I think a lot of investor types would probably say it's just easier to find an agent that knows you and what you are looking for.
