Estoppel Agreements query

Hello, my name is Tinah from MA and a newbie. Is there a timeline for an estoppel agreement to be completed? I am supposed to close on a property in 20 days and have asked my agent to obtain this letter, his response is -" We won't get them back until closer to closing, you want that information to be accurate when ownership is transferred."

Isn't 20 days close enough to closing? Will appreciate everyone's wisdom and guidance regarding this matter, thank you.
