Opinions on Buy and Hold in Huntsville/Madison, AL

Hi all, I am new to the real estate business and just finished my first home purchase.  I'm looking for another location and interested in Huntsville/Madison Alabama area.  Does anybody have any opinions on investing in this area?  I would also love to network with an agent in this area as I'm having a hard time finding someone.  I would appreciate any advice! Thanks BP

Hi Alison! Welcome to BP! Always happy to see new investors make their way into the space!

As far as the Huntsville/Madison areas, we work in the area in the turnkey rental space and we’ve seen several positive signs- although like any market, not everything is perfect. I found a recent Roofstock article that outlines some of the positives in the area, including:

-A four week supply of housing inventory (probably a little lower now since the market has been hot and this article was written back in December 2020)

-A 9% economic growth rate, despite pandemic pressures.

-A steady 10 years of population growth, with roughly 170k residents in the city alone and 463k in the Huntsville Metropolitan Statistical area- which is 11% growth over a 10 year period.

Another stunning stat: the employment market in the city has risen by an astonishing 44% in the last 10 years- something very few cities or markets in the country have been able to achieve. So we’re pretty bullish on the future of the area, especially considering the great strides that have been made over the past decade or so.

Did you finish your first home purchase in the area or are you looking to expand into the market?
