Advice on purchasing first home and rental property

Hello, my wife and I would like to purchase a home as our primary residence (currently renting) that will eventually become a rental. At the same time we are seeing several opportunities for rental properties that we would like to take advantage of. Is it possible to secure two mortgages at the same time?

I have purchased two properties at the same time.  From my experience it was best to use the same lender and the same title company for both transactions.  This way they have all of the documents and info in front of them.  Other than that it was no problem at all.  Just keep the lender in the loop as to your plans.
